The European PR History Network (EPRHN) is the oldest network of EUPRERA, despite the academic field is relatively new. Günter Bentele pioneered a conference on this topic in the late ‘90ies, but it was not until 2010 that a regular academic conference, the International History of Public Relations Conference (IHPRC), was launched at Bournemouth University by Tom Watson. There has been increasing interest in the conference and in PR historical research in Europe over the past 3-4 years but it has largely focused on national histories or phenomena. Collaborative research, across national boundaries, has yet to emerge, as well as a shared knowledge of archival resources.
The aim of this network is to develop cross-border projects and to explore the distinctive characteristics of public relations history across the continent. It will also identify and exploit archives of public relations organisations, phenomena and personalities, as have been developed in North America. Members are invited to join!
This year Anastasios Theofilou will be chairing the 9th IHPRC on History of PR Education, to be held in Bournemouth on July 11-12, 2018, with the support of Alina Dolea, Anastasia Veneti, Joyce Costello and Tanya Le Roux. Publications will include a special issue in the Public Relations Review.
